I am actually doing better this year, so far. (knock on wood) I have more money in my pocket since I made the decision to drop my employer's ridiculously expensive health insurance. Before, I had just enough to pay bills and get basic necessities. That is a huge pain in the ass when you only get paid once a month. We will see what happens this winter with the gas prices and if it will be cheaper for me to buy electric blankets and wool socks.

Acting work has been down due to lack of spending and banks not loaning money.

I'm going on about a quarter of the auditions we usually go on this time of year.

i'm working double flipping shifts and taking home shit. People think after getting top service from me (who has been secret shopped twice and received the highest possible scores) they can tip $5 on a $70 bill? If you can't afford to eat out knowing full well that tipping is part of the bill....don't go. I can't afford to work for free...and if you ever come back - I will TELL the other servers not to give you great service.

The last couple of times my fiance took me out to eat, he wrote the check for the amount only and that irritated the crap outta me. The waitresses had been very good and attentive, so they deserved a tip. I would have left one, but since he was paying, I hadn't brought any money. Now all I can think is that next time we go, service will be crappy.

If he's your fiance, then you should be able to talk to him about being a cheap ass, right?  I would offer to cover the tip if he picked up the meal.  Not tipping your server means they just waited on you for FREE. Or worse, they had to tip out a busser, bartender, and hostess so they had to PAY to wait on you.

You're right, if you stiff your server, they will remember you and you better hope like hell you don't need anything once your food comes. (Refills, sauces, etc) because all they will be thinking about is rocketing your asses out the door. While you are there, they will send al the other severs by your table to get a good look at you so they can remember to give you shitty service in the future.
That's how it works in our restaurant anyway.

Some places you may get a long hair or a pube sandwich.  Sure, it'll look like an accident, you'll get your meal comped, but you'll be less likely to come back after that, won't you?
Then they'll go into the kitchen and  compare you to every uneducated ghetto piece of shit table that's ever come in.
