Engagement Ring
I believe the world’s nothing but a bunch of beautiful strangers
Spinning around an axels until they sense danger
Slowing to a stop yet finding lack of interest
In the tiny cracks and incomprehensible divots
That connect us all in this huge disgusting circle
Of chance and pain… wounds of unmerciful
Fights where two participants just exchange blows until
They both send themselves back into rotation
Saying that they’ve healed and found sense in recognition
That closure only comes with forgiveness
But it’s all a lie… we really are just weeping, still trying to forget this
This stand-up struggle to just stop twirling
To stop this seemingly unbeatable spiraling
No one asks to rotate on the edge of reason
Yet we find ourselves there every couple seasons
Just aching to rest still on a bed of indecision;
Anything to simply stop the escalation
Of fear of setbacks and tribulation
Of really understanding the displacement of this existence
And I believe that the world fears only one thing:
The presentation of just a ring…
The final destination where two intertwined beautiful strangers
Find a way to spin together even though they sense the danger
