This is a link to a news story on my Fiance Ryan and his co-worker Tim. Who were killed last week while working on a sewer pipe. I can't believe that their was no safty gear to have prevented these deaths.

I don't know what to do anymore. I still can't believe that he is gone. We were gonna get married next month. I don't know how to live without him.

How do you know there was no safety gear? People make choices all the time to take risks because they think there is no danger. I ride with no seat belt and drive like a maniac. I don't want people to ask "why" when I die.

I know you think it's hard, but your statement about you don't know how to live without him doesn't make sense to me. How else? You will live because you did before and you will now. There are many soul mates for us in this life and some will die, especially if you live till you are 90 or whatever. Life is tough because it will always involve death.

We talked and he wasnt. I also talked to his friend that started the rumor.

And I know that they weren't wearing any safty gear, because one of my good family friends was their. He was trying to save my Ryan. But he couldn't hold on to him. Ryan had been standing on a lift he somehow lost his balance and fell off. He for some reason wasnt connected to the cable. So coworkers had to try to though a cable down to him he would grab ahold of it but he was so week from the gases he was passing in and out of conciousness and couldnt hold on. And I know that their is another man out their for me, I was just so used to being with Ryan. That nothing feels right anymore.

Most people I know that work from high places won't wear their safety cables. You know the rumor that you can get your toes cut off from wearing steel toed shoes when something heavy falls on them? The rumor with the cables is that your back will get broken in the fall and you would actually get less hurt NOT wearing the cable. (depending on how far the fall, of course) Or they thought they were a pain in the ass and they weren't going to fall anyway.

It was underground not above. The cable would have saved him.

Jobs like that ALWAYS have options of safety gear.  Most workers find some of it cumbersome or uncomfortable, so they opt not to use it.

Either way-the question is whether or not it was available or if he just chose not to wear it.
